Carry as much up La Dole as possible - (June - exact date to be determined)
This crazy challenge was the idea of the F3 group.
F3 (Fitness, Fellowship and Faith) is an international network of men who get up early in the morning to work out together outdoors. Founded in the United States in 2011, F3 established its first Swiss presence in La Côte since 202?, now with approximately X brave yet happy participants.
When Isabella was diagnosed and the scale of her treatment and medication needs became clear, the group immediately wanted to help. Alongside several other sporting challenges taking place throughout May and June, they proposed the “Carry as Much Up La Dôle as Possible” challenge in June. The concept is simple: meet at Gingins, follow the Barillette route up the Jura, and carry as much weight as possible up to car park at the top of La Dôle. It's a 15km route, with 1.209m climb. At the summit, participants will be rewarded with applause, hot coffee, and croissants generously donated by Guillaume Bichet, which is widely considered one of the finest boulanger-pâtissiers in Switzerland.
Not so sure this is for you? Well, think again. Hiking uphill while carrying weight provides an outstanding cardiovascular workout, improves endurance, and strengthens the heart and lungs. Weight-bearing activities of this kind are particularly beneficial for women, helping maintain bone density and muscle mass, both of which naturally decline with age and hormonal changes.
Perhaps most importantly, however, this challenge embodies something increasingly rare and valuable: people coming together physically, socially, and collectively for a meaningful cause. Shared effort, fresh air, laughter, suffering on steep inclines, and coffee at the summit, all in support of Isabella.
